Omaha has an extensive baseball history and it began in 1869 when the Cincinnati Reds came to play an exhibition. It continues to this day with the Omaha Royals and Creighton Blue Jays.

From its sandlots, Omaha has produced such players and Bob Gibson and Dennis Rasmussen.

The College World Series has been held in Omaha since 1950.

Before Rosenblatt was built, League Park on 13th and Vinton was the showplace of Omaha baseball. Such greats as Ty Cobb, Babe Ruth, Josh Gibson, and Satchel Paige came here to play exhibitions with the local teams.
